From Portugal to Spain
On the first day after your arrival at Lisbon airport, you will meet your guide and the other participants at the Motoxplorers Adventure Store. After you have received everything you need for your big European tour, you will start your first journey with the rest of the group to the hotel in Lisbon and go out for dinner together.
On the second day, the route takes you through some of Portugal's most beautiful mountain ranges, deep into the country's interior. Enjoy the beautiful Açor and Estrela mountains surrounded by unspoilt nature. Take a break in the small historic village of Piódão with its stunning views before travelling to the highest mountain on the Portuguese mainland: Serra da Estrela. There, you can let the extraordinary impressions of the first day sink in.
The third day starts with a route along small towns that you can explore during the journey. Take a short coffee break in one of the most important historical villages in the history of Portuguese defence: Almeida, which is surrounded by a fortress that looks like a breathtaking twelve-pointed star from the air. Then it’s on to the Douro Natural Park, which links Portugal and Spain along the river of the same name. Crossing the Douro, you will reach Salamanca as early as possible so that you have enough time to spend the rest of the day visiting the impressive Salamanca Cathedral or the lively Plaza Mayor.
Charming wine regions and Spanish culture
The fourth day takes you along two well-known sections of the Way of St James: the 'Via de la Plata' and the French Way. Along the route, you will take a peaceful lunch break in the town of Burgos, where you will also have the opportunity to visit the city's imposing cathedral. Beautiful scenery accompanies you throughout the day, and you may come across a pilgrim or two. The day ends to the north in the wine region of La Rioja, where you'll begin to notice a change in your surroundings, with them becoming increasingly greener and more mountainous. Check into your hotel in the small town of Haro and enjoy a wonderful view with one of Spain's most delicious wines.
The fifth day is all about Spanish tradition and culture. You set off towards the heart of La Rioja to the traditional city of Logroño, and after a short stopover in the Basque Country, you continue on to Pamplona. You have the opportunity to spend some time there and have a coffee at Iruña: Ernest Hemingway's favourite restaurant. The crowning finale of the day is the last stage into the Pyrenees, more precisely into the Monte Perdido National Park, where you can end your day in a relaxed manner.
On the sixth day of your trip, you set off in the morning for Catalonia and thus also towards the Mediterranean. On the way, you can visit the special pilgrimage church of Nuestra Señora de Torreciudad, which is a real postcard motif with the Pyrenees in the background. In Tarragona, a visit to the spectacular amphitheatre awaits you, and from Garraf Natural Park you can enjoy an absolutely magnificent view of the sea. You end the day in the vibrant city of Barcelona.
The magic of Provence
On the seventh day, you take a break from riding: Barcelona awaits you! Explore the wide range of gastronomic and cultural offerings in the capital of Catalonia. See the impressive ‘La Sagrada Família’ church or try out some of the best tapas the city has to offer!
It's back onto your motorbike on the eighth day, when perhaps the most beautiful stage of the whole tour awaits you: crossing the Pyrenees on endless mountain roads and between impressive mountain ranges. Feel the magic of the Pyrenees in the Cadí Moxieró Natural Park, make a stopover in Andorra and then cross the border into France. Once you arrive in the medieval town of Carcassonne – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – you can let the many impressions of the day sink in.
You start the ninth day of the Europe Grand Tour well rested. The French region of Provence has a very special charm with beautiful coastal regions, historical culture and breathtaking scenery. Enjoy a coffee with a view of the deep blue sea during your stop in Séte, pass through Nîmes and Arles and end your day with a stroll through the alleyways of Aix-en-Provence.
From France to Italy
The tenth day is upon us and with it, the most charming section of the French Rivera: the Côte d'Azur. You can enjoy a view of the sea along the coast. You make a short stopover in Cannes and St Tropéz and in Nice, the capital of the Alpes-Maritimes, then you return to your hotel for the night.
The eleventh day has a very special highlight in store for you: crossing the border into Italy! In Monaco – the second smallest state in the world – you take a photo break and explore the highlights of the town before travelling along the Italian Riviera to the charming little town of Sanremo. Here you can enjoy the architecture and Italian life before you reach the end of the stage: Milan.
The twelfth day gives you the opportunity to relax a little and explore Italy's second largest city. Milan is all about fashion and at the same time offers a multitude of sights and restaurants to discover! You will also get tips from your tour guide.
Natural paradise and picturesque towns
After enjoying city life and the cosmopolitan atmosphere along the coast to the full on the last few days, on the thirteenth day you immerse yourself fully in the nature of the Alps. The marvellous mountain roads, waterfalls and small Alpine villages offer spectacular views, as does your stopover at Lake Como. You then cross the border into Switzerland, make a short stop in the St. Moritz ski resort and finally travel to your destination for the day in Davos.
On the fourteenth day, you set off from Davos for the seventh country on the Grand Europe Tour: Liechtenstein, nestled between the Swiss and Austrian mountains. You then cross the border into Bavaria for the first time to visit Lindau, a picturesque island on Lake Constance. The onward journey finally takes you to Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. Here you can recover from the day and enjoy a walk with a wonderful view.
The fifteenth day takes you to the last stage of your spectacular journey. The highlight of the day is also the first stopover: Neuschwanstein Castle. Majestically situated on a hill and surrounded by a beautiful landscape, this experience is not to be missed. You then ride to a small town at the foot of the Alps, which has become an important part of BMW Motorrad's history: Garmish-Partenkirchen, which is associated with the BMW Motorrad Days. Your onward journey takes you past Lake Starnberg to the capital of Bavaria: Munich. Enjoy the rich variety of culture, history and gastronomy here and end the day in peace with a beer.
The home of BMW
A very special highlight for all BMW enthusiasts awaits you at the end of the sixteenth day. Take the opportunity to visit the halls of the BMW Museum and BMW Welt. Immerse yourself in the history of the brand and learn all about the milestones of BMW and BMW Motorrad.
On the last day of the Europe Grand Tour, you will return home with a wealth of new experiences and can reminisce about this spectacular journey for a long time to come!
Ride the adventure of your life on a motorbike through the unique landscape of Europe.
